Honduran Milksnake Caresheet HERE

Honduran Milksnakes occur at low elevations in tropical areas of Honduras, Nicaragua and North Eastern Costa Rica. It is one of the largest Milksnakes some specimens have been reported to have grown over 5 foot. Hatchlings are large up to 12 inches and generally feed aggressively on rodents from the start. They must be one of the most beautiful, popular and variable member of the Milksnake family. They are being bred in several colour and pattern phases, a brief description of the different phases is listed below. We are working on several new projects with the Hondurans including Hybinos, Albino Tri-Coloured and Hypomelanistic Tri-Coloured.

Two Wild Type forms are known the Tri-Coloured Phase with bands of yellow, black and red. and the Tangerine Phases where the black bands are either incredibly narrow or nonexistent and both the yellow and red bands are closer to orange in color. The less black and more orange the snake has on its skin, the more desirable they are. Both phases are commercially available in a variety of mutations.

Albino Tangerine Hondurans or Amelanistic have an almost day-glo appearance to them, bands of fluorescent orange, orange and pure white make them a truly stunning animal. The amelanistic gene is responsible for the lack of black pigments being produced. Albino Hondurans are popular for not only there intense colouration, but also the endless possibilities there are when combining this gene with other mophs.

Vanishing Pattern/Striped Hondurans, an unusual and variable genetic trait that is not yet fully understood. Striped phase, vanishing pattern phase, and normal hatchlings can occur in the same clutch. As the Vanishing Pattern name suggests the black bands fade out as they go down the sides of the snake.

Hypomelanistic Hondurans have reduced black pigment, and the once black markings are now a bluish black colour, the tipping seen on some scales is also effected by this.

Anerythristic Hondurans lack all red pigmentation, they are shades of black, grey & white.
A combination of the Hypomelanistic & Anerythristic gives us Ghost Hondurans, these are shades of Black, White & Lavender

Hybino Hondurans, made by combining the albino & hypomelanistic gene. The black bands are shades of Purple\Grey\Blueish and the orange is a lovely clean colour. We are working towards producing some of these in the near future.

Snow Hondurans are essentially white and shades of pink & yellow, a combination of the Albino gene & the Anerythristic gene.
